How much e-mail storage space do I get with Jislaaik! Freemail?

Jislaaik! Freemail gives you a standard 4 megabytes (MB) of storage space to store your messages and attachments on Jislaaik! Freemail servers. If you do not keep your account below this limit, email sent to you@Jislaaik! will be returned to the sender with a 'Disk Quota exceeded' message. Whilst the system automatically clears out the Trash and Mass Mail folders periodically (usually monthly) for all users, to avoid exceeding the storage limit, we recommend that you save large attachments in a folder on your hard disk.

Jislaaik! Freemail Protection

How can Jislaaik! Freemail help me avoid junk mail (spam)?

Jislaaik! Freemail has SpamAssasin and CLAM AntiVirus installed at server level. So it checks emails before they arrive at your mailbox. Any detected malicious Viruses are deleted and suspicious emails are sent to your 'Mass Mail' folder for you to check.
Jislaaik does not condone or support sending of junk mail, or spam, through the Jislaaik! Freemail system. There is a daily send limit of 20 emails for free users and 100 emails per day for Subscribers. This prevents spammers abusing our system and giving it a bad name. The Jislaaik! Freemail Terms of Use strictly forbids sending unsolicited e-mail and we terminate all reported accounts that are in violation of this.

Protect yourself from junk mail

When it is activated, your mail filters examine incoming messages and automatically sends e-mail it has identified to your Mass Mail folder. You can set up filters which screen incoming email for keywords that the you have set up in order to better organize your email. It could be a filter targeted towards redirecting unsolicited advertising or emails containing sexual content into the trash folder, or it could be a filter used to automatically place a favorite weekly newsletter into a special personal folder. The potential uses of filters are numerous. It is then easy to delete all trash or mass email with one click.

You can also use our multiple email domains for various uses: so for instance, you@jislaaik.com is used for friends and family, you@sky.co.za is used for personal stuff, you@gogga.co.uk is used for places which could generate lots of junk mail, etc. This way it is easy to 're-direct' junk email to the trash folder using the filter.

Once e-mail is sent to your Mass Mail or Trash folders, messages are automatically deleted periodically; or, if you sent them to the Trash folder, you can delete them by simply clicking the 'Delete Trash' button.

To set up the Mail Filter, log-in to your email account, click Filters on the bottom left, and then enter the relevant details as indicated by using the drop down options.

The following is a breakdown of the information required to set up a filter:

Priority - if an incoming email falls under the description of more than one filter, it is important to decide in advance which filters take precedence over the others. Each filter must be assigned a different number (i.e. since there are 15 potential filters, you'll notice that the drop-down contains priority 1 through 15 to choose from for each filter). "1" being the highest priority and "15" being the lowest priority.

Filtered Text - this is the actual piece of text that the you want the program to look for when filtering emails. It could be a sentence, a word, an email address, etc.

Text Source - this determines which portion of the incoming email is searched. Choosing "From" will search the incoming email addresses and choosing "Subject" will search the subjects (titles) of the incoming emails.

Matching Criteria - defines how the filter works. Does the Filtered Text have to be contained in the Text Source or must it not be contained in the Text Source? Or maybe it needs to begin with the Filtered Text, or end with it? Finally, the you can set things up so that only an exact match between Filtered Text and Text Source will result in a filtered email.

After setting up your Mail Filter options, choose what to do with your Junk mail, remember to check the 'enable' box and then click Done at the bottom of the page to save changes.

For new junk mail that is not caught by the Mail Filter, select the check box to the left of the message (you do not need to open it) in the Inbox, and then click the down arrow next to the 'Move Mail' button, select a folder to send it to and then click Move Mail. Or simply select the check box next to it and click the 'Delete Checked' button. Remember, to prevent further delivery of e-mail from that sender or domain to add a new filter.
